St George Fc Girls Youth Teams Make History
St George FC girl’s youth teams have achieved an historic milestone for the club. They have won the Club Championship for the first time in 20 years. This is the time The Women’s Program’s Technical Director Carlo Tini has been with the club. It has been an “amazing “season so far, for the Women’s Program.
They have won the Girl’s Youth Club Championship with still two rounds remaining. A glance at the competition points tables reflects this history making season.
- Under 14’s are already Minor Premiers
- Under 15’s will be Minor Premiers if they win on Sunday against SD Raiders.
- Under 16’s will finish first or second
- Under 18’s will finish first, second or third.
Despite the stunning success, Carlo Tini remains wary of what happened in 2024.
“Last year, our Under 14 team went through the season unbeaten. They lost the semi -final which is “sudden death” and they were out despite having had the unbeaten run beforehand”.
“‘”You only get one chance in the finals, its lose and you are out despite the great season you have had.”
“Everyone is equal in the finals it is 1verse 4 and 2verse 3”.
“I am very proud of where we are now. When I started, we had very few wins, now we are a club players want to be at.”
“The success of the Women’s Program is due to the hard work, dedication and talents of our players and coaches, many of whom have been here for some years.”
“Players now want to come and play for us. It all starts with our Under 10 Junior Development, the most important team in our club.”
Being pro-active is a key factor in the girl’s success
The few players lost to NPL 1 are replaced by players from other local clubs who now want to join.
‘Stability is what we offer, on and off the field” he added.
