Evan Souris Reaches a Personal Milestone with his 100th Appearance

Evan Souris has achieved the honour of 100 games for St George FC in a little over three and a half seasons.
He reached the special milestone last week against University of NSW .
“I am stoked to have achieved it at this great club, I would not have wanted to do it anywhere else” It is a great honour.”
The 23 year old midfielder made his debut for the club in April 2022 against the Northern Tigers in NPL 2.
Having become a first team “regular” he played a “key”role in the Saints clinching promotion to NPL 1 in 2023.
Evan is following in the “footsteps” of his father George who played over 350 games in the NPL with Wollongong Wolves (150 games over 8 seasons, 100 with Sutherland Sharks over 7 seasons and 100 with Melita over 4 seasons)
All up , George won 6 titles plus a couple of National League titles as well.
“Dad makes me aware of his career, I can see the positive impact his career has had on me. He inspires and drives me.”
Conversely, George is very proud of his son’s achievements
“He is very driven, he trains hard, what I am most proud of is he is a qualified High School Teacher at John Bosco teaching Physical Education and English.”
Evan was almost lost to the club when he trialled with A League Club Melbourne Victory and came very close to being offered a contract. However ,he lost out to a former English Premier League player.
“Unfortunately, the club chose Juan Mata and not me – no shame in that”
Despite the disappointment ,life is good for Evan Souris – he is a permanent High School Teacher and playing football for the club, he loves St George FC
“I still have hopes of playing in the A League, but I am happy playing in the NPL , it is a good balance of work football and lifestyle”. My focus is 50-50 football and teaching.”
Evan Souris is excited when the talk switches to his team in 2026- unbeaten after four rounds and yet to concede a goal.
“We are much stronger, we have good people, good leaders , good balance some very talented players- we have the depth now to cope with the long season”
He has high expectations.
“We want to win it. The top six is realistic , we have everything we need to do well.”
“The changes have been refreshing – we have a good core of players from previous years. We now have all the tools. I am not surprised at how well we have started the season and how well we are playing. We have a good squad , a good coaching team and most importantly , a good attitude.”
A special Presentation will be made to Evan Souris just prior to “kick-off “on Saturday night by Club Chairman Bruce Spiteri.
