Pat O’Shea contributes to a remarkable family achievement at St George FC

Resolute defender Pat O’Shea reached a personal milestone with his 100 th appearance for St George FC recently, against Sydney United 58 FC.

A special Presentation was made prior to the start of the match against Sydney United 58FC.

Club Chairman Bruce Spiteri presented the number 6 with a framed jersey to honour the achievement.

Also present to honour his son, was father John who played over 200 games for the club back in the late 1970’s and 1980’s his mother Sue and wife Sarah.

To make the achievement even more remarkable, Pat’s uncles Mike (over 250 games) and Robbie (over 150) also reached the triple figure milestone.

There can be no doubting the special connection the O’Shea family has with St George FC.

Unfortunately, the special occasion didn’t culminate with a win, but the mainstay of St George FC ‘s defence was still his reliable self, just as he has been since starting with the club back in 2018.

That was a special season, he made his debut against Parramatta Eagles and the club went on to finish second on the ladder, before claiming the NPL 2 Grand Final with a win on penalties against Mounties Wanderers.

A year at Sutherland Sharks followed in 2019 before he returned temporarily to the Saints for the COVID interrupted season of 2020.

He was back at St George FC permanently in 2023, again tasting success.

This was the year the club won promotion to the National Premier League after the dramatic promotion “play-off” with Mount Druitt Town Rangers.

As the club seeks to consolidate its position in the league, Pat O’Shea will no doubt continue to play a vital role as a key man in defence.

He will also draw closer to his next milestone of 150 matches.

Congratulations Pat O’Shea.
