Sarah McKinley named Football NSW Female Coach Of The Year
Sarah McKinley only found out about her “major honour” when she saw it on Facebook.
She is yet to be presented with her award of Football NSW Female Coach of the Year.
If there is a simple word to describe Sarah McKinley-it would be understated- Sarah despite the many pressures in her life just takes it in her stride- not the type to get flustered.
Well organised (she has to be) in her roles, first and foremost is her family -now mum to four months old Florence. – that in itself is enough to be focused fully on-then, there is the career – as a Product Manager in Finance – communicating is the key factor in this position and leading the team.
Communication becomes crucial in the next role she has- one she loves -coach of St George FC girls Under 12 Junior Development.
“The girls are doing really well, they are growing, developing and enjoying themselves” she said proudly.
Sarah McKinley’s Coaching Philosophy may explain why she was chosen to receive such a prestigious award as Football NSW Female Coach of the Year.
“I believe in individual player growth, loving the game, having fun, and enjoying playing” simple, yet, most effective.
“It’s about the development of each player” she added.
Sarah was a first-grade player with St George FC before turning to coaching in 2022. Such has been her impact to be acknowledged so quickly in her coaching career.
At St George FC the praise is “glowing” for Sarah McKinley.
“Sarah is an amazing coach with the patience of a Saint; she treats the girls with the utmost respect. She dedicates so much time to making sure sessions are built around their development and needs.”
“Sarah takes a very keen interest in the girl’s best needs, always guiding the girl’s down the right path using her own personal experience to help them understand.”
The Award to Sarah Mckinley was part of the Female Football Week Celebrations .
